This was a week of many news in the world of Android flagships, that is, those devices that compete directly with iPhones. A few days ago, we talk about Samsung launches (Galaxy Z Flip, S20, S20 + and S20 Ultra). Now it's time for Xiaomi's new darlings: the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro, which were launched at an online event by the Chinese company – due to the Coronavirus outbreak.
The technical specifications of the devices are impressive. The series is equipped with a 6.67-inch curved OLED screen (2340 × 1080 pixels), four cameras on the rear, Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, 8GB or 12GB RAM (LPDDR5) chip and 128GB, 256GB and 512GB storage options internal.
Speaking of the screen itself, it has a refresh rate of 90Hz but with a touch response of 180Hz, to improve performance. The maximum brightness on the Mi 10 is 1,120 nits and the display also supports HDR10 +. In the case of the Mi 10 Pro, the maximum brightness is 1,200 nits; in addition, some factors of technical evaluation of the Pro display (Delta-E and JNCD) are even better than those of the iPhone 11 Pro Max screen.
Here is the set of Mi 10 cameras: a 108MP wide angle, built with 7 pieces and the ability to record 8K videos (including optical image stabilization). This main camera is located between two 2MP sensors, one used for macro images and the other for depth detection. Then, outside the module, we have a 13MP (123 degrees) ultra-angle, in addition to the two-tone LED flash.
The Mi 10 Pro's cameras go further: the wide angle also has 108MP, but has an 8-piece lens configuration. Below it is another 20MP (117 degrees) ultra-angular and 6-piece lens configuration, followed by an 8MP telephoto lens with 10x hybrid zoom and optical image stabilization; then, a 12MP specific for portraits (with bokeh effect).
The front camera of the two devices is 20MP, and both have a fingerprint sensor on the display and a facial recognition based on software.
The battery of the Mi 10 is 4.780mAh, with the right to fast charging with 30W / wireless – while the reverse charge is 10W. The device has a cooling system with the largest heat dissipation plate per area ever placed on a smartphone, according to Xiaomi.
Still – don't ask me why – they launched, among other accessories, a horrible fan for the Mi 10 that, according to the company, can reduce the temperature of the device by 10 degrees. 🤷🏻♂️
Incredibly, the Mi 10 Pro's battery is smaller, at 4,500mAh; on the other hand, fast charging with wire is 50W, while wireless is at the same 30W and the reverse at 10W.
In terms of connectivity, both include a USB-C port, support for dual-mode 5G networks (SA / NSA), Wi-Fi 6, NFC and Bluetooth 5.0.
