The awards ceremony will be held on February 9, and will not have a keynote presenter for the second year in a row.

The feature Joker leads the contest with 11 nominations, followed by 1917, The Irish and Once Upon a Time in … Hollywood, with 10 each. Winner of the Cannes Golden Palm last year, South Korean Parasita was nominated for both the best film and the best foreign film – there were six categories in all.

Brazilian director Petra Costa was nominated for best documentary for the film Democracia em Vertigem – this is the first time that a feature film exclusively produced by the country is nominated for this award.
