The Nuclear Power Plant Angra 1 was reconnected today (14) in the morning to the National Interconnected System (SIN) after stopping for refueling. The return to operation took place three days before the agreement with the National Electric System Operator (ONS), Eletronuclear informed, through its press office. The plant is in the process of increasing power and is expected to reach 100% on Monday (17).
The unit was shut down on January 11 to replace a third of the fuel. Periodic inspection and maintenance activities and design modifications were also carried out, which need to be done with the plant turned off. During the stop, around 4,700 tasks were performed.
In the assessment of the plant's superintendent, Abelardo Vieira, all objectives were successfully met, especially those related to industrial safety. Vieira attributed the success achieved to the competence of the state's technical staff, which met the target before the 37 days scheduled for the operation. “Once again, the competence and dedication of our professionals were paramount to achieve the established goals, from the planning and preparation phases to the execution and supervision phases”, he said.
