We call these uninvited guests pests, and there are several ways to get rid of them, whether they are thinking about the garden, the living room or the kitchen. But there are some pests, such as bedbugs, that deserve individual attention because they have the potential to wreak havoc on your life. Therefore, we have created a guide that you can follow to get rid of bed bugs in your home.
- Identify the infestation:
First, you will have to identify the outbreak when it is still in its infancy, because it is much more difficult to deal with a smaller infestation when compared to a complete catastrophe.
Several telltale signs signify the presence of pests.
For example, if you woke up with several welts on your body, or there are blood stains on the bed due to crushed insects, or the sheet is covered with yellowed eggs, skin cells or black droppings. All of these signs represent the possibility of bedbugs in your home. But you will have to be aware that these signs are not easily identifiable unless you look for them. So, if you have any of them, it's time to move on to the next step.
- Contain infestation:
Bed bugs are sneaky creatures, and you must make sure that their habitats do not spread throughout the house. Therefore, after identification, vacuum all possible hiding places and classify your belongings into washable items, such as bedding and bedding, and non-washable items, such as wooden or decorative items. Seal them all in the plastic bags so that they are safe from future attacks.
- Treat the washable:
Unload the washable materials into the washing machine and perform each load for at least 30 minutes on a hot water drain cycle. Bedbugs are unable to cope with extreme temperatures and, as a result, will be wiped out.
- Treat non-washable:
Take non-washable items, such as wooden frames and outdoor decor items, and let them sunbathe for at least two to three days. Bedbugs will not be able to tolerate the direct heat of the sun and will be killed. Likewise, you can expose bed bugs to the other side of extreme temperatures by placing the affected items in refrigerators, as bed bugs will be frozen to death.
- Hire professional services:
After completing your agreement, monitor the affected areas to ensure that all bed bugs are eliminated. But if you are unable to remove bedbugs holistically from your home, hire professional services like Responsible Pest Control.
Don't fall into the trap of taking bedbugs lightly, as they can ruthlessly hit your home and wreak havoc on your belongings in no time.
